IN 2016, AFTER BUYING THE ESTATE AND THE SURROUNDING LAND, LUIGI FRASCINO APPROACHED RICCARDO COTARELLA WITH THE PROPOSAL TO MANAGE THE WINERY PROJECT TOGETHER, IN ORDER TO RESTORE THOSE LANDS TO THEIR FORMER POWER: THAT OF ONCE AGAIN YIELDING THOSE FRUITS THAT HAD BEEN ORIGINATING THERE SINCE 1878, AND THUS RESTORING THE PRODUCTION OF GREAT TUSCAN WINES IN THOSE TERRITORIES.

Luigi Frascino

THE VISIONARY AND THE ENTREPRENEUR

Successful businessman in various fields, especially in finance. In 2007, he founded Credit Network & Finance, one of Italy's top companies specializing in debt collection and NPL's acquisition.

In 2020, he joined the tax collection sector, taking over the management of around 60 municipalities across the country to date.

Ever since he studied in Siena, Luigi Frascino dreamed of one day returning to Tuscany to achieve his dream of cultivating vineyards and producing his own wine. After a long search for suitable land, he finally found an abandoned winery in the municipality of Castelnuovo Berardenga, Chianti Classico area, which needed investment and a serious renovation project.

LUIGI FRASCINO MADE THE DECISION TO BUY THIS LAND AFTER READING A PAPER DATED 1878, THE SURVEY CERTIFICATE OF THE SANTA CATERINA ESTATE, AS THIS ESTATE WAS CALLED IN THE PAST. THE DOCUMENT DESCRIBED THE LAND AND SAID THAT EVEN BEFORE THE ERA OF PHYLLOXERA, AT THE END OF THE 18TH CENTURY, VINEYARDS WERE ALREADY BEING PLANTED THERE AND THAT EVEN THEN THE SOIL WAS PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR WINE PRODUCTION.

THIS DISCOVERY BECAME THE TURNING POINT AND SO BEGAN THE PROCESS OF RETURNING THE VINEYARDS TO THEIR HISTORICAL FUNCTION, RESTORING THE CHIANTI LANDSCAPE HERITAGE AND RELAUNCHING THE BOSCHETTO CAMPACCI WINERY.

Riccardo Cotarella

THE OENOLOGIST AND THE PROFESSOR

World President of Oenologists and National President of Assoenologi, Riccardo Cotarella is known well beyond the borders of Italy. In 1979, he and his brother Renzo founded Famiglia Cotarella, one of Italy's most important wineries with 200 hectares of vineyards and almost 2 million bottles sold worldwide.

Subsequently, Riccardo Cotarella created the company 'Cotarella & Chiasso srl' to provide viticultural and oenological consultancy in Italy and abroad. More than 100 companies in Italy, France, Japan, Spain, Romania, Israel and Switzerland entrust their vineyards and wines to the professional care of Cotarella, who is a professor of oenology at the University of Tuscia.

RICCARDO COTARELLA ACCEPTED FRASCINO'S INVITATION TO SUPPORT AND ACCOMPANY HIM IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE BOSCHETTO CAMPACCI WINERY AND TO OVERSEE THE PRODUCTION OF ITS WINES.

Under his guidance, new vineyards are planted and old ones restored, which become the cellar's treasure.

For the oenologist, participating in the project is a personal choice.

In addition to the fact that the estate itself is a real discovery, with land among the richest in Chianti, the special affinity with the owner, based on a passion for wine and winemaking, is decisive.

A collaboration in which Cotarella saw an opportunity to create something truly unique.
